At last a Front Panel...

Actually did this a week or so ago but I do now have a panel... This is for the Thomas Henry XR VCO. I need more of the Cliff sockets and the real potentiometers but we are getting there slowly!

On the Board!

Well the Tooob has made it onto the board... not a lot of success so far as the two diodes protecting the heaters seem to be too aggressive in their conduction levels so we are only driving about 0.7V in instead of 1.5V... looks like two in series coming up...

CRO says No...

This was the output from the Buchla 258 VCO clone... the Triangle seemed very offset, as you can see from the photograph, but it did come good after the Q9 transistor was changed to a PN3638A, which I had lying around... Now trying to match the Sinewave modifying FET...

VCO to the max...

Here are 6 VCO's waiting for temco's, final tuning & a front panel... There are two from Mr Henry, a MFOS, a Yusynth, a CGS and a Buchla clone.

All Lined Up...

We really need to do something about those front Panels!

Polivoks Filter

This is my rather crusty layout of the Polyvoks Filter... Guess who got the press'n'peel back to front?

OC71 & LM394

Well the OC71 is at least 40 years old (I remember my parents buying the Radio that I pulled it out of) and the LM394 is from week 42 of 1988...

This is the Yusynth Noise PCB with an old germanium transistor that I plan to try as the noise source...

Ancient VCF

While I was rummaging around in some boxes of junk recently i found an uncessesful version of a diode based VCF that i built on veroboard sometime in the early 80's. The date on the opamp is 1979 but it wouldn't have been that long after that! It never worked and there were a lot of mistakes in the translation to veroboard. It was based on a design in the magazine Practical Electronics. In turn that was based fairly heavily on the EMS version of the VCF that was in the VCS family of synthesizers. Forbin will have a version of this filter from Yusynth - the PCB is pretty much populated and now i just need to try and design a front panel for it!

YMB

Yet Mode Boards! We have here the Yusynth Envelope Generator, the MFOS Envelope Generator (the display of state one) and fonitrOnik layout of Roman Sowa's AD633 Ring Modulator... Now I MUST get onto some front panels!!!

A Mean VCF

Great excitement when these turned up! They are for use in the Mean Sucker VCF that is on this site. I actually have the PCB finished with the exception of the FET. I got the valves from the Tube Depot as a NOS item (not sure how many more they have). I will get the entire PCB together then take some more pictures!

Forbin Lives

This is a new Blog about Forbin my new synthesizer! The old one, ORT, has been officially superceeded and ORT MkII seemed a bit naf so i have settled on Forbin. Probably no less naf but there you go! It already has quite a lot of modules at varying levels of completion. None of them are completely finished yet, they all seem to be waiting for something or other and i still need a box and some front panels. This board that you can see is a Buchla BPF that was redrawn by Mark Verbos. It has LED controlled resistors or VARISTORS, which aren't the easiest to get hold of.
